Things I learned after 1 Year of Tracking my Expenses using Wallet App by Budget Bakers

It was exactly a year ago when I started browsing in Google Play looking for FREE Android App that has all the features I like to track my expenses every single day. I have probably tried about ten free apps I found in the Play Store but the only app that stand out was the "Wallet" App made by Budgetbakers .

My Christmas Party with Kabayan Noli

It's my second time attending the Christmas Get-together of the Kabayan Ten Outstanding Public School Students this year, the first being in 2015--also my first being here in Manila working. First Selfie with Kabayan during the TOPS Christmas Get-together 2016 This is one of the events I'm looking forward to attend every December because I want to fill the missed times when I was still studying because I studied in Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao and had never got the chance to attend this yearly event until now that I already graduated and luckily got to work here in Manila so I'm always up to attend this event. I made a lot of personal friends during my first attendance although we sometimes talk in social media before. The TOPS family is really in various fields, some are in engineering, business fields, I am in I.T, of course some are in education and some are proceeding to law and medical fields ect. The cool thing about Kabayan's Foundation is, even thou...

Adorable Filipina - Australian Proudly Represented 'Manobo Tribe' in a School Pageant in Iloilo City

I usually get messages from strangers asking for help translating phrases to Manobo Dialect and every time I got one I always am willing to help them, and if I can't recall a particular term, I'd usually call my cousin who's more fluent and knowledgeable than me to help in the translation. 5-year old Ashley Cass on her Manobo Costume. (Eventually bagging the Best in Costume Award) Recently, I got a message from Ms. Grazel Mari Niego Rendon from Iloilo City also asking for help to translate an introduction phrase to Manobo. It turns out to be it's for a school event which not only requires a translation of an introduction of a candidate but they also need help on others things to best represent the Tribe such as the costumes and the styles in displaying and serving foods on the table. It got me excited because they are going to represent the Tribe on a school competition not just the Mr and Miss candidates but also the display of the tribe's cultu...

The Nostalgia-triggering Lyrics of Bukidnon My Home

Photo by Bukidnon Travels* I got a dose of nostalgia recently that I felt so homesick with the breeze and smell of Bukidnon I call home. Then the meaningful lyrics of my province's hymn crossed my mind and  posted a clip of it, which reads: "Wherever I may roam, the distant land to see. I long to go back soon, to sweet Bukidnon Home" It was just the beginning of this nostalgia-triggering hymn that Bukidnon-native would surely love to hear and sing, not just because we love to but also because of its meaning and the feeling of belongingness to the province we call home. About 12 hours later after posting that lines, I thought of posting a continuation, but wasn't very sure of the lyrics on what exactly is the word. The continuation reads like this: "I long to go back soon--to see Bukidnon Home. Where lovely mountains high, with forest tall and grand--bring memories to me, the home I long to see" I wasn't very sure about the ...

English to Manobo Dialect Translation

Someone posted on The Manobo Facebook Group asking for help to translate her oral piece for school and it got me excited because I have not done any translations yet especially tomy native Dialect, Manobo. Although I am not very fluent in speaking my native tongue, I can still recite and understand most of the words, but I can't guarantee a hundred percent exact terms especially that the dialect I grew up is already mixed with some Visayan terms, and also with the fact that we don't have English equivalent for medical terms and because we just don't use such words.

Tony Parker is missing after winning the game vs Turkey during #FIBAOQTManila

France wins 75 - 63 over Turkey during the FIBA Olympics Qualifying Tournament Semi Finals game at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, July 9, 2016 Not a die-hard fan of San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker though, but when I saw bunch of Filipino fans waiting to see Parker get out of the venue and board their team's bus, I stopped and waited too hoping to get a close-up video or even just a photo of this French NBA Star. Fans freak out everytime someone gets our of MOA Arena with "France" on their shirt hoping to see Parker, and there's some autograph signing for some players, with fans in complete attire with their "Parker" marked jerseys on them, but, he is nowhere to be found. Turkey players have left, and like after 1 hour or more of waiting and all of the French players boarded the bus, the driver gets inside, started rolling the bus and we then realize that where the hell is Tony Parker? How did he got away? 😂 We were ...

Skipping my class to meet HTS in Lumbia Central School as they turns over donated school building

Henry T. Sy or HTS for short as we call him in SMPHI captured during the turning-over of the school building donated by SMPHI, BDOFI and SMFI to Lumbia Central School in November 16, 2012. I was still a scholar of SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) back in 2012 when we were invited to attend and help the foundation during the turn over of the school building to Lumbia Central School, an elementary school in Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro. Realizing I have a class that's in conflict with the event, I decided to skip the class because this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the President of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., — the son of Henry Sy Sr., the man behind the SM Foundation, Inc. which keeps me going to college being a scholar of the foundation during that time. The One-storey Four-classroom School Building donated to the Good People of Cahayan de Oro City Arriving at Lumbia Central School, I realized I was the only SMFI scholar who attended the event, with some local media co...

Side story on My #SMSelfie with SM City North EDSA

15th SM Mall in My Journey, the SM City North EDSA, Visited on the 17th of December 2015 When I started staying here in Manila for work, I started planning for my new adventure of visiting near SM Malls for my personal travel. I don't go to SM Malls just to shop or buy things I want, rather the things I only need because the reason why I do visit SM Malls is to be there and ultimately reach the goal of completing the visit to all SM Malls in the country, and if lucky enough, I would also love to visit SM Malls in other country and take a selfie with it for my #SMSelfie journey 😂 It took me a while to visit SM City North EDSA which as we know, just a ride away with MRT from Taft and you'll be there in minutes. That was planned actually because I must attend to the annual gathering of Scholars and Alumnus of Kabayan Foundation Scholars which I had never attended before since I studied in Cagayan de Oro City, and since I am here in Manila now working, I must pa...

The Cask of Amontillado Question and Answer for your Assignments

What is the meaning of the phrase “A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser”? This means that to obtain the perfect revenge one has to execute their revenge with such perfection that they can successfully perform it without being caught. In this case Montresor is talking about getting revenge on Fortunado for insulting him. He wants to get even with Fortunado and then some by killing him as revenge. But if he is caught and arrested then Fortunado really wins so he has to get revenge with ease.  The way I see it, Motesor is saying that when taking revenge on someone, you have to “one up” them, doing something even worse than what they did to you for you to seek revenge.  Why did Montresor seek revenge on Fortunato? Montresor wanted revenge on Fotunado because Forunado insulted him one too many times. He wanted to “one up” him so to speak by killing him as his perfect revenge.  It seems that Fortunato did bad things to Montres...

Talumpati Para sa Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa

Isn't it hilarious? HAHAHA! Nice try anyway for a first-year college student right?

Kabayan Ten Outstanding Public School Students (TOPS) Speech

I and the former Philippines's Vice President Nolie "Kabayan" de Castro I cannot put into words the happiness and fulfillment I felt, upon knowing that, through this scholarship program of Kabayan Noli de Castro, I can fulfill my dreams. This would not only give me a chance, to make my dreams come true, but also to give honor to my tribe in Bukidnon and to let them realize that there is still a bright future that awaits us. That there is still hope despite the “Cloudy every days” in our lives. That we may not die of hunger because many of us are uneducated. Now is my privilege to say thank you first and foremost to our almighty Father for giving blessings to other people and using them as an instrument to help the less fortunate. My gratitude and thanks to Kabayan Noli de Castro for his kindness and generosity. That through him, I have been unwrapped from the thought of hopelessness, knowing that the desire in fulfilling my dreams is in me. My special th...

Working-student: The Road to Reaching the Impossible Dream

Ang balay nga kulang nalang og pirma sa hangin matumba na 😂 Photo by Sir Jhong Calixto, 14th of February 2011 at the Village where I started to dream. My dream started as a dream that seem impossible to come true given our situation back then. I'm Jeffry Manhulad, son of a farm laborer from Bukidnon who dreamed to ride an airplane someday. Bukidnon is the heart of Mindanao where plane passes through maybe flights from Davao to Cagayan de Oro or else, not sure but I can't forget how we wave our hands above hoping that somebody from the plane would see us below. That was the simple beginning of a dream, a simple dream to just ride an airplane. As a young boy from a broken family, left by our mother when I was four, I completely understood that chances to finish college and make my dream come true is impossible. My father couldn't even afford to send me to school, that's why my two sisters live with my aunt and there they were able to finish their elementary a...

The Lost Class Propehcy of Dologon NHS Batch 2011 | Written and Delivered by Hazel Vone Ayahay

Kearth, Baby Jane, Hazel Vone, Joeann, Geneva, Mary, Jeffry [Me], Maribel, and Jinky During the Juniors - Seniors Prom 2011 I was staring at a clean sheet of papers. My mind is wandering to and from if what would be the setting of the novel that I entitled A Folk’s Lair. As I look at it blankly, I saw something. It is somewhat a star-shaped emblem. Embossed in its heart are 6 letters in cursive. It is somewhat “F-U-T-U-R-E” but as I blew the dust, it became clear, it is “FUTURE”. When I laid my eyes on its side panels, there are numbers carved,”2-0-2-1”. I was confused, how could such an emblem with the word “FUTURE” and the year “2021” can help me from writing the setting of the novel!? Maybe yes, it could help so I touched it, and because of that rays of light met me that I could hardly open my eyes. I spent so much effort to open it, but nothing happened so I let it closed for a few minutes. To my great surprise, I felt a painful punch in my stomach, it was lurched by...

Dologon NHS Recollection: Words of Gratitude for my High School Teachers from Jeffry Manhulad

Ma'am Marittes R. Aguilar To a teacher who drafted our letter for the application to avail for Senator Migz Zubiri’s scholarship; a coach who makes us laugh even in hard times during competitions; a coach who taught us how to get nice ukay-ukay items ; a teacher who never fails to advise us where to go and what should be done; a teacher who feels what you feel; a teacher who is very supportive to me even though I’m an alumni already; a teacher who gave me The Lake copies whenever I ask ; a teacher who is not just a mother but a best friend, she is no other than our Lady Marmalade. I can never forget the day when you called us, and you cried with us, I can never the laughter we’ve shared during the times when we had competitions to join; you will always be our coach-entertainer and mother and best friend Ma’am Tess. I want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart Ma’am Marittes R. Aguilar , I will never incorrectly misspell your name. hehe. Sir William A. Calix...
